How to Win 2 Million in 2 Days

It’s not everyday (or every 2 days) that you win 2 million dollars. Pokercode founder and author Fedor Holz had the privilege to have already experienced multiple of those days in his life, but when it happened again in 2020 it brought a different set of emotions.

In an unpredictable year the World Series of Poker, normally held throughout the summer in Las Vegas, was moved online to Pokercode by GGPoker. On this particular day of the weekend, September 1st, it was time for one of the headliners on the schedule, the $25,000 Heads Up bracelet event. A total of 127 players (one short of the maximum number of entries, 128) put down $25,000 to battle it out in the quest to become the heads-up champion and the winner of a WSOP gold bracelet and $1,000,000. Fedor needed to overcome an incredibly tough line-up including Luc Greenwood, Anton Morgenstern, Robert Flink, George Wolff, and none other than Justin Bonomo. That left him with a spot at the final four and the Pokercode founder had a week to prepare for his semi-final against Sergi Reixach.

Two-Time Bracelet Winner

A week later, on September 8th, it was time to battle it out against the best of the best. Before the $25k heads up tournament continued, however, the German Pokercode founder decided to dabble in the cash game streets, playing some high stakes cash, banking approximately $160,000.

When the time came Fedor took on Reixach in the semi finals of the heads-up tournament and emerged victorious, only to face Brazilian Brunno Botteon, the #1 ranked online poker player (as of February 4th, 2021. According to Pocketfives). Fedor eventually flopped a set of fives and held on to the best hand against the overpair of tens of the Brazilian.

The party wasn’t over for Holz, who was still playing some other high stakes tournaments. He made another Day 2 and the finish in that tournament culminated in winning $2,000,000 in 2 days and becoming a two-time WSOP gold bracelet winner.
