Over the upcoming weeks we will introduce the Grindhouse 3 participants to the public. First up is Pokercode community coach Grzegorgz Kozieja and he talked to us about why he wanted to join Grindhouse 3 and what he hopes to get out of the project.
When Grzegorz Kozieja (or Greg) was announced as a Grindhouse 3 participant, he already was known in the Pokercode community. The Polish native has been an active community member for a while already, and he recently stepped up to the role of community coach, providing multiple live coaching sessions for the Pokercode community every single month.

But what moved the 32-year old to apply for Grindhouse 3 and what are his expectations of the project? Pokercode’s own Milko van Winden sat down with Kozieja for a chat about the upcoming 10 days in the Austrian Alps.
Pokercode: Hey Greg, how are you doing? We’re super excited to welcome you to the Grindhouse in September and we’re excited to get to know you better. But if you had to explain, who is ‘MammothTheGr8’?
Mammoth: I’m very curious about poker. I just really like studying a lot. Other than that I don’t really know what to say, haha. I don’t have any real hobbies. I coach a lot and I play a lot, although I probably play less than I should. I like to watch alien documentaries and I like space stuff, but that’s just on the side.
I just mostly like studying I guess, and preparing the content. I really enjoy making a good presentation. I wasn’t really aware that I was good at teaching, but I really like it now. I have so much respect for teachers though. Take a maths teacher. They always teach the same content over and over again. I don’t think I could do that. It feels so boring to me. I dive pretty deep in a concept that I want to discuss so I know what I’m talking about before I present something to someone. It really helps with my own study routine. If I see I can plug a leak in my own game, I will use that to learn about a topic I can teach to my students.
Pokercode: Sounds like the perfect fit for Grindhouse! Can you explain to us what moved you to apply for this edition?
Mammoth: From the beginning I liked to study together with others. I like to build these relationships through poker. I’ve been in so many different study groups, but what happened is that these groups always died in the end. I decided to create my own Discord server which now consists of about 300 guys. I work closely with 5 of them. Some people moved to different disciplines, like cash games, but it’s a pretty consistent group. In Grindhouse I want to meet new people and learn from Fedor’s thoughts every single day. Being able to look in the mind of one of the best is crazy. I also knew Fabian [Niederreiter] applied for Grindhouse 3 and I work closely together with him. It would be amazing if we could go together, and now we will! We don’t go in blind now, having someone else there is amazing.
Pokercode: Do you think that because of your coaching background you can contribute more to the growth of the group?
Mammoth: I believe that I have decent study routines and I think I can help those who don’t have them yet, or haven’t built them well. I’m sure Fedor will give us better ideas, but it’s definitely something I have experience with and can help the other participants with.
Pokercode: What are you looking to get out of Grindhouse?
I would like to be more confident playing higher. I think I want to play more and coach less because I think I’m decently prepared to grind more, so I can study a bit less. I have a good understanding of the basics and I want to try it to see where it takes it. Increase my volume, play higher stakes. That’s what I want to achieve.
