Any Two Cards

The expression “any two cards”, sometimes abbreviated "ATC", has several different applications, but it’s most often used to describe a player who plays recklessly and doesn’t like folding.

For example, when describing a player from your home game, you might say: “John plays any two cards,” to indicate that John is the type of player who doesn’t care about the preflop hand selection or positions. He just wants to see flops regardless of his hole cards.

The expression “any two cards” is also sometimes used in poker strategy. For example, there is a 2.2 big blind raise and two calls before it gets to you in the big blind. In this scenario, you’re getting the right mathematical odds to play any two cards for at least a call.
