Bet

Whenever a player puts some chips in the middle, he makes a bet, so this term refers to any wager made during the hand.

Usually, a bet is made for value when you are holding a good hand and want to get paid or as a bluff when you want to make your opponent fold to win the pot.

It is also worth mentioning that there are different types of bets both pre flop and post flop, and a simple raise, c-bet, or donk bet, and everything in between, is considered a bet in poker.
