The term chop in poker has several meanings and can refer to players splitting (chopping) prize money in a poker tournament, or it can describe a pot split between multiple players.
For the first example, a tournament can get down to four players with $100,000 in prizes still left to play for. Instead of playing to the winner, players can decide to chop the prize money, be it an equal split, an ICM-based chop, or simply a deal they all agree on.
When talking about a chopped pot, two players can get to a showdown with the same exact hand. They table their hands, and there is no winner. Since they both have the same hand, they each get half the pot, i.e., they chop the pot.
Tournament prize chops are quite common in poker. It used to be a thing only in live events, but these days, most poker sites also have a feature that allows deal-making once players reach the final table.
