Cutoff

Cutoff is the second-best position at the poker table, located directly left of the button.

When you are sitting in the cutoff seat, you only have three players to act after you and can see what everyone else does before making your decision. This additional information and the ability to aggressively steal blinds because of a few players sitting after you make the cutoff a very profitable position.

If you are playing in tournaments, the advantage is even bigger since you can steal many pots when antes kick into play and will have a position on the blinds if they do not fold preflop. This way, you can keep putting pressure on other players by c-betting and will rake many pots as a result.

Even in cash games, you can play much wider ranges compared to previous positions, so this is a seat where you can start opening up to utilize the advantages the cutoff has to offer.
