Dry Board

In community card poker variations like Texas Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha, the term dry board is used to describe a board that doesn’t offer many potential draws. It is the exact opposite of the term “wet board.”

For example, in Texas Hold’em, a flop reading 2s7hKd would be described as a dry board. Regardless of how many players are in the hand and what their hole cards are, no player can have a straight or a flush draw on this board – there simply aren’t any.

Thus, no matter what card hits on the turn, it doesn’t have the potential to improve anyone’s hand to a straight or a flush.

The above example represents an extremely dry board, but there are degrees to the “dryness.” If we exchange the 7h with 3h, it is still a dry board, but now there are a few possible straight draws added to the mix.
