The term fast fold poker relates exclusively to online poker, and it describes a type of game where a player is dealt into the next hand immediately after folding their previous hand.
Instead of having to wait for the action to complete, as soon as you fold, you’re moved to a different table and get a new hand.
Almost all online poker operators have their version of fast fold poker. At PokerStars, it is called Zoom; at GGPoker, it is Rush & Cash, while at 888poker, it is known as BLAZE.
Regardless of small rule differences between different versions, the basic premise remains the same. In a fast fold poker game, you start by receiving your hole cards. If you’re not interested in playing the hand, you can immediately click fold, and you’ll proceed to a new table with new players and get dealt into a new hand – rinse & repeat.
When you pick up a hand that you want to play, you’ll proceed as usual, waiting for the action to get to you. If you decide to fold at any point later in the hand, you’ll once again be moved to the next table immediately, even if there is still action remaining between other players.
Most fast fold poker variations also give you the option to stick around after folding the hand and observe, which can be handy if you decide to give up on a big pot but are curious to see how the hand plays out.
