Grinder

In poker, the grinder is someone who spends a lot of time playing the game over a long period, i.e., they are “on the grind,” putting in the hours and maximizing the number of hands they play.

The term grinder usually refers to someone who plays poker for a living. This is a person who’ll spend multiple hours every day playing poker, be it online or live, and they’ll do so day after day.

Being a grinder has nothing to do with what stakes you play. The term applies equally to someone grinding NL10 and a high-stakes regular who plays every high-roller tournament they can.

That said, the term is more often applied to low and medium-stakes players who may not be the best players in their give games, but they are winning players who put in a big volume to maximize their profits.
