Overcards

Overcard is a card with a higher rank than any of the community cards dealt face-up to everyone.

For example, if you have KJ and the flop comes T 6 3, you have two overcards to the board. If the flop comes Q 7 6, now you have only one overcard to the board since only the king is higher than the queen.

Having overcards has some additional value since you will make a top pair combination if you hit any of these cards, which will be the winning hand most of the time. That being said, you should not overvalue overcards and chase them like draws since these hands usually do not have that much equity.

On the other hand, it might be a great hand to use as a bluff on dry boars, so you should rather be looking to bet with such hands than merely call and hope to hit it.
