Postflop

The term postflop is used to describe the action that happens once the first round of betting is over and the first three community cards (the flop) are dealt.

This expression is found in all community card games like Texas Hold’em and Omaha to denote the first betting round after the flop in cash games and tournaments alike.

Usually, the postflop betting round begins with the player in the small blind or the first still active player seated to the left of the small blind position.

For example, let’s say you open on the BTN, the BB calls, and you see the flop of A97. At this point, the postflop stage begins since the first three community cards are already dealt. The BB player will be the first one to act in this round, and every action from this point would be considered to happen postflop. This includes both Flop, Turn, and River betting rounds.
