Re-entry

The term re-entry refers exclusively to poker tournaments that allow players to enter the event again after busting. This makes them significantly different from freezeout tournaments, where players are permanently eliminated from the event after losing their chips.

Re-entry tournaments are different from re-buys. If you are eliminated from a re-entry event, you’ll have to leave your seat, go back to the registration desk or a cashier, and register for the tournament again, just as if you were a completely new player. You’ll also pay the rake for every new entry.

When you re-enter, you’ll be assigned a new seat, get a fresh stack of chips, and enter the tournament at whatever the blind level is underway at the moment.

The re-entry period is never indefinite. You’ll have a certain number of hours or blind levels during which you can enter the tournament again after busting, but once the registration closes, you’ll no longer be able to get back in if you bust.
