ROI

ROI, or return on investment, is a specific term describing a player’s profitability in the tournaments that he plays. This number is given as a percentage and shows how much money was won or lost in tournaments compared to how much money was invested into tournament buy-ins.

For example, let’s assume you played 500tournaments with an average buy-in of $100, so you invested $50,000 in total. If you won $100,000 during these 500 events, your return on investment is 100%since you doubled the money you paid for the buy-ins.

ROI can be both positive and negative, and the higher it is, the more profitable the player is in the long run. Also, highROI correlates with lower variance, so the better your win rate, the smaller swings you will encounter.

It is one of the most important metrics for measuring players’ results in tournaments.

While your skill and strategy will have the highest influence on your profitability in MTTs, selecting the best games with the weaker competition is essential since that can also significantly increase your ROI.
