Tank

In poker, the term tank is used to describe a situation in which a player is taking a very long time to make a decision. The player doing the thinking is said to be “in the tank.”

For example: “Last night, at the final table, I moved all in on the button, and the player in the small blind went into the tank for almost five minutes before eventually calling with pocket eights.”

Excessive tanking, i.e., habitually taking a long time on almost every decision, is frowned upon by most players. However, it is perfectly normal and acceptable for players to tank in big spots, such as facing a large bet or making a decision for their tournament life.
