Whale

In poker, a whale is a player who plays a very loose style and doesn’t mind putting a lot of money into the pot with a wide variety of hands. This style of play naturally leads to frequent and substantial losses.

Most whales are gamblers who like chasing draws against the odds and firing big bluffs in situations where such bluffs are not merited and are easily picked off by experienced players.

A whale is different from a regular fish in that they usually have access to a lot of money that they’re willing and happy to bring to the table. This is why known whales are welcome in almost all games and will often enjoy special benefits provided by poker rooms and casinos as games tend to create around them.
