A win rate in poker is the amount of money won over the predefined period or number of hands. It is usually expressed as the number of big blinds won over 100 hands. In live poker, the win rate is often expressed as hourly, which is the amount of money or big blinds won per hour played.
For example, an online player could have a win rate of 5 bb/100. This means that, on average, they win five big blinds for every 100 hands they play. If they’re playing $1/$2, they’re winning $10 for every 100 hands they play.
A live player could have a win rate of 7 big blinds per hour. This is a similar calculation, but live players use hours instead of the number of hands, as this is much easier to keep track of in a live setting.
Either way, a player’s win rate is very important, as it tells them how much money they can expect to win over the long haul.
